Social Media react on German win confederations Cup
A thrilling two weeks has resulted in Germany being crowned the 2017 Confederations Cup champions, with Die Mannschaft securing the crown with a win over Chile this evening.
Tight affair
One goal was all that separated the two sides, with a huge mistake from Chilean defender Marcelo Diaz proving crucial on the day, as Lars Stindl tapped home from a Timo Werner assist after 20 minutes for the game’s solitary goal.
The 90 minutes was far from a quiet affair, though, as suggested by the scoreline.
Countless chances came and went for the South American champions as time and time again they fluffed their lines when it mattered most.
The incredible work rate and passion that has become synonymous with Juan Antonio Pizzi’s side was in full effect throughout, with a hectic final half hour filled with flashpoints and goalmouth action eventually proving fruitless, as Germany’s second string side proved their mettle and managed to hang on for a famous victory.
